🗳️ Have Your Say – Local Consultations
Local decisions affect our neighbourhoods every day — from parks and transport to safety, housing, and community services. Have Your Say is how residents can provide feedback and help shape decisions that impact the Rodney area.
Consultations are run by Auckland Council and the Rodney Local Board, and are open to individuals, families, community groups, and organisations.
🧭 What is a consultation?
A consultation is a chance for the public to:
- Share opinions on proposed plans or changes
- Give feedback on local projects or services
- Help guide future priorities and funding decisions
- Raise concerns or support ideas that matter to the community
Consultations may relate to:
- Transport and road changes
- Parks, reserves, and facilities
- Local planning and development
- Community services and funding
- Environmental and climate initiatives
👥 Who can take part?
You can usually take part if you are:
- A resident of the Rodney area
- A property owner or ratepayer
- A business or organisation operating locally
- A community group or volunteer organisation
You do not need to be part of a formal group — individual submissions are welcome and valued.
✍️ How to have your say
Most consultations are hosted online through Auckland Council.
On the Have Your Say website you can:
- See what consultations are currently open
- Read background information in plain language
- Make a submission online
- Upload documents or comments (where applicable)
🕒 Important things to know
- Consultations are time-limited
- Each one has a clear opening and closing date
- Late submissions are usually not accepted
- Some consultations may also include:
- Public meetings or drop-in sessions
- Workshops or online webinars
🧩 What happens after you submit?
After a consultation closes:
- Feedback is reviewed and summarised
- Key themes are reported to the relevant Local Board or Council committee
- Decisions are made taking submissions into account
- Outcomes are published publicly
Not every submission results in change — but every submission becomes part of the official record.
🌱 Why participation matters
Local consultations help ensure that:
- Community voices are heard early
- Decisions reflect local knowledge and lived experience
- Services and projects better meet real needs
- Residents stay informed and connected
Even a short submission can make a meaningful difference.
